5 inch ZTE U887 enters the low end phablet fray
Hot on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy Grand, a lower-end Galaxy Note II alternative announced yesterday, ZTE is trotting out a dual-core phablet of its own: the U887. According to Gizchina and the TENAA certification database, the device sports a 5-inch 800 x 480 display and runs a dual-core 1.2GHz MT6577 chip with 512MB of RAM. Its also dual-band for China, sporting support for both TD-SCDMA and GSM networks. Looks-wise, the U887 isnt a far cry from ZTEs higher-end Nubia Z5 -- at least based on the image weve seen -- although it packs a 5-megapixel rear camera rather than the 13MP shooter on the quad-core Z5. As with the upcoming Galaxy Grand, pricing and availability info for the ZTE U887 remains MIA, but thats sure to surface in the coming months.

Panasonic Eluga spesipication
As far as hardware is concerned, don’t expect a powerhouse. The Panasonic Eluga will feature a 1GHz TI-OMAP dual-core processor, a 4.3” 960×540 OLED qHD display, NFC capabilities, an 8MP rear-facing camera, 8GB of internal storage onboard and will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread preinstalled. An update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to be available in the summer. This is an HSPA+ capable smartphone, which should give download speeds of at least 21Mbps where HSPA+ is available, and of course if supports normal 3.5G HSPA and other bands as well. The ELUGA Power measures 136 x 70 x 9.6mm and weighs 133 grams, which is pretty light for a big screen phone like this.On paper the ELUGA Power looks like a nice handset to use although it really is just a black slabby thing to look at. Panasonic haven’t said when the ELUGA Power will be available or how much it will cost, but the rival Samsung Galaxy Note retails for about €530 and we would expect the ELUGA Power to come in at a broadly similar price point in markets across Europe

ForMe Mobiles Debuts in India with Dual SIM Models
One of the leading China based mobile brand ForMe Mobiles forays in India. Company launched five dual sim mobile phones with price range between Rs. 4000 to 5000. The company launched their handsets in South Indian market and plans for other two mobile launches as well.
The sales and marketing will be handled by Peace Telecom India a subsidiary of Peace Telecom. Murali Vijay becomes brand ambassador of ForMe mobiles in India & unveiled the mobile phones in Chennai.

Google’s Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb Is Finally On Sale
When Google unveiled the Nexus 4 back in October, it also showed off a wireless charging orb for the device. Yet since then, Google has been totally silent on the accessory — until now.
On Monday, the Nexus orb, which is officially (and boringly) called the Nexus 4 Wireless Charger, went on sale in the Google Play online storefront. The charger sells for $60 (only in the U.S. for now) and wirelessly powers up the Nexus 4 using the Qi inductive charging standard — this all works by building magnetic coils that can wirelessly transfer energy into both phones and the charging dock. Because it runs on the Qi standard, it can also be used for other Qi-compatible phones such as Nokia or HTC‘s Windows Phone 8 handsets. To charge it, simply plug the orb into an outlet, lay a Qi-equipped phone on top, and you’re charging.
If you’re a former WebOS devotee, you might see the Nexus 4 Wireless Charger and feel a bit nostalgic. That’s because the Google orb looks a lot like the old Palm Touchstone wireless charger, which was built to work with Palm’s Pre and Pixi smartphones. This by no means is a coincidence. Australian university to hand out 11 000 iPads
The University of Western Sydney has decided to give an iPad to every new student next year, with staff also benefiting from the institutions generosityPicking the right university over in Australia just got a lot more rewarding as the University of Western Sydney has said it will give out an iPad to every new student next year - thats 11,000 tablets.
Staff will also be receiving the 16GB, Retina Display, Wi-fi model as part of the universitys "Blended Learning Strategy" that aims to complement face-to-face learning with new technology.
Its probably no coincidence that the incentive was announced on the day New South Wales high school graduates learned their tertiary entrance ranks, which determines which university courses they can be accepted onto.
Whats more, the universitys six campuses all boast free Wi-fi for students to access on their shiny new tablets. That means they can access the online lectures, library services and apps that make up the Blended Learning Strategy the uni is implementing.

Sony patent reveals EyePad game controller
An intriguing patent filed by Sony last year appears to indicate the Japanese company is planning a gaming tablet that could double as a console controller
A patent filed last year by Sony appears to show a tablet-like gaming device with physical controls that could be both a rival to the iPad or - more likely - a new type of controller for the imminent PlayStation 4.
Filed last year, the patent is for a device called the EyePad that will feature a Wii U-like central touchscreen as well as motion sensors to track movement the same way as PlayStation Move.
According to the patent, which was flagged up by game blog Gamechup, the EyePad will also feature stereoscopic cameras at opposing ends of the tablet to let you interact with the 3D space above the screen. This could be used for AR games - something Sony has already experimented with using the camera on the PS Vita.The patent goes into more detail about how the EyePad could interact with Sonys EyePet game that used the PlayStationEye camera on the PlayStation 3 to create a 3D virtual pet:
"For example, the EyePad may be used as a grooming table for an EyePet; in the EyePet games, video captured by the EyeToy video camera is displayed on a television in conjunction with a virtual pet character; movements of the user and the use of AR markers enables the user to interact with the pet."

Whether or not Sony will carry this patent right through to development remains to be seen. Perhaps the company will wait to see how Nintendos Wii U console sells before committing to development.
Either way, Sony has enough to be concerned about as it is - the company is scheduled to reveal the next-generation PlayStation 4 tomorrow.

Asus Padfone 2 gets Android 4 1 Jelly Bean update
Soon after Asus announced the Padfone 2 back in October a few devices received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update last month. Now finally the update is available for all Asus Padfone 2 users.
Initial reports suggest that the update first started rolling out in Japan, Hong Kong and other regions. Asus has also published the update files for WWE (World Wide English region) and HK, allowing users to grab it manually.
There are several improvements with the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and users will now have access to features like Google Now amongst others. The Padfone 2s audio quality and USB Internet sharing features have been improved, GPS has been optimized and there are some camera improvements for better focusing and photo quality.
Asus Studio has also been added which allows image editing and video streaming playback has been optimized. This new update takes the firmware version of the device to 10.4.5.36 and if you have not yet received a notification for the update you can manually check for it in device settings.
